El Chalan Lunch

One of the nicest thing about working only one block away from my husband (other than commuting to work together each day) is the chance to have lunch together. We went to the Peruvian lunch hotspot El Chalan early in the lunch rush. The restaurant is pretty small, but fills up quickly and the sound level in the restaurant becomes quite loud.
Ceviche with canned corn and squash.
Tomato Salad
This was kind of odd to call a salad. One piece of lettuce with rings of white onion and four slices of tomato?
Beef stew in cilantro sauce with rice and beans.
Peruvian "paella" with mixed seafood.
Unlike Spanish paella which tends towards the crunchy side, this rice is nice and soft and was super hot. Very warming on a cold autumn day. Very large portion size, definitely too much for one person.
