Sunday Football Snacks

A friend asked to hang out with a visiting Japanese colleague, so we invited them over for football and snacks. I debated whether or not to go the traditional American football snacks route. Instead, I decided to create a menu of Japanese foods that I figured someone outside of Japan might enjoy.
Homemade karaage (Japanese-style fried chicken)
I marinated the chicken with soy sauce, grated ginger, garlic, sake and sesame oil. The squeeze of lemon on the fried chicken is both necessary and delicious.
Prettiest cheese and charcuterie plate.
Brie with fig butter, salami, sopressatta, bresaola, manchego, proscuitto, kalamata olives and bleu cheese.

The hubs contributed by making a delicious Japanese beef curry and rice. Along with some bacon wrapped water chestnuts and bleu cheese stuffed dates, and lots of cold beer, we chatted and nibbled on the snacks, and kind of watched the Redskins once again break my husband's heart.
