I've gone to a number of special gatherings held on the second floor of Tono Sushi in Woodley Park. The space is large enough for 20-30 people for a seated event. Usually it has been a buffet with sushi, yakisoba and yakitori. This time, I helped organize a special dinner with bentos. While the buffets were usually pretty good, this time the bento was really very good.
Two lacquerware boxes were presented with five separate compartments.
Super fresh tuna and salmon sashimi with tako sunomono.
Nigiri and California roll. Again fresh and nicely seasoned rice.
Beef negimaki.
Looks like pork tonkatsu but actually kaki fry (breaded and fried oysters) with hijiki.
The kaki fry were the only slight miss.
Chawan mushi, a delicate egg custard with mushrooms, spinach and shrimp.
Delicious bento with bowls of rice and miso soup on the side for $27 each.

I've ordered bentos from a number of the Japanese restaurants in DC over the years for work-related functions, and the version from Tono Sushi for dinner was a pleasant surprise. I coordinated with the restaurant owner mostly by phone, and he helped make sure the event went off smoothly. I definitely recommend trying out Tono Sushi if you haven't been there in a while. It doesn't quite match the quality and variety of fish compared to Sushi Taro, but the prices are much more moderate.
