Kimchi House on Route 1 in Alexandria

Located on the way to Fort Belvoir, this nondescript restaurant serves homestyle Korean food. We gave it a try the other day after work. When we arrived, there were two other tables and some karaoke videos playing on the TV screen.
Fried mandu were nice an hot.
Chicken wings, hot out of the fryer.
Panchan
Japchae
Yukkejang spicy beef stew
Spicy pork with cabbage and vegetables.

This is a small, family-run restaurant. I've seen the negative reviews on Yelp and wanted to like it despite them all. The husband liked some of the dishes, but won't be rushing back. He prefers the table-top grilling at Honeypig or the soondubu at Lighthouse more. The pork was a little more sweet than spicy to me, and used sliced pork belly instead of pork loin like I tend to use. I thought the soup was nice and spicy. The wings were forgettable.
